Assembly Technician

F & P Mfg., Inc., offers an exciting and rewarding career opportunity in a fast paced, highly automated, state-of-the-art automotive parts manufacturing facility located in Tottenham, located 40 minutes north of the Toronto airport.

F & P Mfg., Inc., is a tier one automotive parts supplier producing suspension components and pedal assemblies for several automotive makers, in both Canada and in the U.S. We are a complete manufacturing facility and have been stamping, welding, painting and assembling parts for 30 years. We have 900 associates working at our 2 on site manufacturing plants.

F&P’s Assembly Department consists of Assembly lines and Bushing insertion presses. This equipment includes, PLC controlled Conveyor systems, which use Fanuc Robot’s for material handling, Vision detecting systems, D/C fastening systems, LVDT positioning units, HMI interface, and Overhead off load lift systems. Bushing insertion systems, are PLC controlled using Load cells, LVDT’s, Hydraulic CYL’s and Vision systems. Together these areas offer technical staff the opportunity to work on a wide range of highly automated equipment in a continuous improvement work environment.

Hours of work: Biweekly rotation of days (6:30am-3:00pm) and afternoons (3:00pm-11:30pm)

Position Responsibilities:

  • Perform highly diversified duties to repair and maintain assembly equipment.
  • Diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, detect and replace defective parts, test and make adjustments to automated production equipment.
  • Perform regular preventive maintenance on assembly equipment.
  • Use a variety of hand and power tools.
  • Perform general clean-up and organization of work area.
  • Other duties as assigned to ensure efficient operation of the Assembly department.


  • Post-secondary education in Electrical, Mechanical, Robotics or related field OR
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment in a similar role.
  • Understanding of Digi Force Units, Load Cells, and Vision Systems
  • Understanding of D/C tools and data collection
  • Experience with robotics and PLCs
  • Experience in maintenance and repair of equipment
  • Strong mechanical aptitude
  • Willing to work overtime when required
  • Good written and verbal communication skills, and problem solving skills
  • Ability to complete assignments with minimal supervision
  • Flexibility to change work assignments
  • Good mechanical and electrical aptitude.
  • Able to read and understand Operation Standards, blue prints, maintenance and equipment manuals, etc.

Wage range for this position is $22.05 – $24.85 per hour, plus $0.60 shift premium for afternoons and $0.80 shift premium for midnights. Benefit package includes an incentive bonus program worth 7.5% of base pay, paid overtime, complete medical, dental, vision care, prescription drug programs, and a company paid pension plan worth 5% of base pay.
